Lula’s adventures
The Perfect Romantic Break
24-28 May 2010
Here for our 30th Wedding Annivesary (26th) and thought we’d so something out of the ordinary - not that we ever do ‘ordinary’!!!
We were a little anxious about our venture into Campaland but Lucy and Lula made the transition very painless and Lula especially has been absolutely perfect taking us the length and breadth of this beautiful Island.
Beautiful weather as well made sure we travelled around a lot from country roads, coastal paths (not with Lula!) and the famous TT course. Point of Ayre to Calf of Man where I did my bit advertising Lula to an interested passer-by. She certainly attracts more than a quick glance.
What more can we say that that, she has made our anniversary that extra bit special and we will always remember our holiday in the Isle of Man with lots of happy memories.
Thank you Lula & Lucy!

Three Go On An Adventure
22-26 March 2010
It’s our last evening here as we write our blog - and we’ve had a fantastic time!
We love old vehicles & Lula didn’t disappoint us one little bit!
The Isle of Man is a wonderful place to send quality time - the scenery we found amazing. Our son Clayton absolutely loved the whole experience, particularly as we to place his car seat in the front on the right hand side -so he thought that he was doing all the driving!
We’ve been a bit unlucky with the weather but our spirit hasn’t been dampened -we would definitely like to visit again.

Luke & Sarah’s Grand Tour
28 Sep - 3 Oct 2009
Just woken up at Ballaugh Shore on the NW coast, which is a good spot to ‘overnight’ at, although no loos so you have to be at one with nature.
Yesterday we visited Port Mooar at Maughold Head on the East coast, it was very pretty and right on the shore. It would be a fantastic overnight stop. After Maughold we wondered around Ramsey and discovered Shakti Man. Now, this is the perfect shop for kitting you and your home in a hippie-peace loving-man style. Perfect for camper van dwellers. We regret not buying some of their woolly knee-length socks, not because we were cold, but because we would have looked the part.
We then drove to the barren wilderness knows as the Point of Ayre. Gale force winds and a whole lot of nothing to be found there! So we wandered West along the coast searching for a room with a view and here we are at Ballaugh Shore.
Highlights of our trip
The seals at Peel
Making bacon and eggs in Lula
Kippers, the Castle and the triple scoop ice creams at Peel
Walking along the Prom in Douglas
The coastal footpath from Castletown to the Sound
Thank you Lucy & Lula, We love you! xx

Sarah & Sam have a super time
28 Aug - 1 Sep 2009
Writing my first entry at 7am as I sit in my new beach hut/hotel/van at the sea’s edge at Glen Wyllin - booked into campsite but pitches too muddy so we chose ‘a pitch’ in the car park at the beach end - nice and level and tarmac’ed - with sea views to die for.
Friday - Flew to I.O.M with Manx2 from Gloucester.
Picked up our new best friend Lula then off to Snaefell Mountain Railway from Laxey - brill. Drove to Ramsey and parked up for a cuppa - looked like lots of places to overnight. Stayed overnight at Laxey Campsite - good kitchen facs - but only one shower and you got to be slim! Again, Laxey harbour/beach front very quiet and would be great to stay overnight. Brilliant whiskey/malt selection at The Shore Hotel, as well as own brews - Bosun.
Saturday - The Sound - asked to borrow someone binoculars! Amazing to see seals basking - in the rain…. Then to Niarbyl for lovely soup and views. Did Kipper tour in Peel in afternoon - 3.30pm daily. Great bacon and kippers for tea!
Sunday - Point of Ayre to suss out for the night. Most of parking on way up (from Kirk Michael) - nature reserves so no overnight stops allowed. Best one is Point of Ayre - desolate - wind and rain - so glad we had Lula to shelter in. Next stop Ramsey. Then Ronaldsway for Airport Museum. Worth a stop if you’re passing. Then Peel for Davidson Ice Cream Shop. Found a great place to park up by the Castle - Fenella Beach. Right by the waters edge and quite sheltered. Public loos still open at 8.50pm.
Monday - House of Manannan, Peel - interesting and interactive, £5.70 per adult. Celts, Vikings and good display on Fishing and Kippers. Next time would have bought the £15 ticket to visit all 5 sites, inc. Laxey Wheel. So it’s raining hard and Lula is all steamed up as we make our last cuppa tea. We have had a great time in spite of the weather. Glad we visited The Sound, Niarbyl and Snaefell when the weather was dry.
It’s been a really special time we’ve had with Lula - to know her, is to love her. Many thanks to Lucy.

The Johnson Family have a jolly good time
31 July - 7 August 2009
As there were five of us we needed the awning so based our camp in Peel, it was lovely. Did late nights on the beach with picnics (different beaches but the nicest was Peel in the evening). Not enough time to do all the great things we wanted to do.
Lula made us friends were ever we went. Great place for the kids, will be coming back but with less luggage!
I had fun
- Love you Lula - Amy (age 16)
We had lots of fun - Sally (age 8 years)
Me too - Charlie (age 10)

A weekend adventure
25-29 May 2009
Lula kept us nice and cosy in mixed weather and took us all round the Island. We stayed on two campsites, in Peel and Kirk Michael, both very good. The other two nights we parked up - at opposite ends of the island - in the Cregneash Village (South) and The Point of Ayre (North).
Found plenty to do: the £15 ticket giving access to five heritage sites is good value. The House of Manannan is somewhere to spend a couple of hours (in Peel). Did a couple of good walks: round ‘Lands End’ and Glen Wyllin and Spooyt Vane (nr Kirk Michael)
Eating out - Mitre pub at Kirk Michael was about the best.
All in all a great few days
Tips - Don’t bring too much luggage and check out coverage of your mobile phone before you come

Lula - A girl on Film
May 2009
We love Lula and won several road races in the derestricted zones, admittedly by running the motorcyclists off the road, but who dares wins.
Treat her kindly and enjoy this Island paradise.

Lula - The Sundance Kid
13-17 April 2009
We drove up from Castletown into the eye of the storm and parked up on a hillside with only the sheep for company. The sun was an acid drop of blood-orange red and bruised pumpkin orange as it sank into the tearful April skies.
The sheep took refuge in the lea of the centuries-old slate walls as the wind played Lula like an antique pump organ, howling and whistling, booming and rumbling…….. and Lula danced rocking and rolling and reeling through the night, yeah, rocking and rolling and reeling through the night.
After Kerouse & Cassidy, as befits (perhaps) this vehicle.

Jills’ birthday - A blooming marvelous time was had by all
29th March 2009
Lula is a pea-green camper van
We rented in the Isle of Man
And even tough she’s left hand drive
She goes like a dream and we’re still alive
Bless Lula kept the cold away
As the gales blew round Port Erin bay
As the waves crashed on the harbour wall
She kept us safe and we had a ball
Even though we broke the key
She sheltered us through our revelry
When we parked on the eastern coast
Our VW beauty was a perfect host
The only thing that makes us moan
Is that we can’t take sweet Lula home
Thank you sooooo much
Love Jill, Claire, Sue, Annie & Judy

Mothers Day Weekend
20-22 March 2009
Can we keep Lula?
Having only known her for a couple of days she already feels like one of the family. She has provided us with everything we need and given us all smiles of fun. The gas heater is great and is more than capable of fending off the Manx weather (We stayed at Smeale during a cold, north westerly wind - brrrr!).
Thanks to Lula - See you again soon

Benni & Ingrid explore the Isle of Man
19 October 2008
Making friends with Lula was a fun experience.
She likes to take things easy and in her own time. Lula makes you feel at home as soon as you step inside, providing for your every need, she really has thought of everything.
Once is Lula’s care you can be assured of a comfortable ride wherever you go on the Island and a good nights sleep.
A word of warning though, Lula is often photograph by passing admirers.
